Objectives of FIN ACT
Empower parents and families to participate meaningfully in the child protection system
Promote a collaborative and inclusive child protection system
Enhance the role and intrinsic value of parents and families within the child protection system
Develop and sustain a viable, effective organisation based on best practice
Why become a member?
Becoming a member of FIN ACT means you support the objectives of the network and you agree with FIN ACT providing a ‘voice’ for parents in the child protection system.
As a member you will:
be kept informed of changes in child protection policies
have opportunities to provide input to policy consultations and other forums
be given opportunities to participate in research or evaluation processes
be kept informed of the progress of FIN ACT in its mission to provide support services to parents and family members
be invited to the annual general meetings and other events
be assisting toward a more inclusive child protection system which respects parents and family members are key stakeholders in the lives of their children.
The application process
All applicants must be nominated by an existing member of the network. (Please contact us if you do not know anyone). All applicants must agree to the Code of Conduct. An organisation may appoint a representative, however, an application must be signed by an authorised person from within the organisation. Once your application is received, it will be presented at the next meeting of the FIN ACT Committee for consideration.
You will be contacted immediately following the meeting to let you know your application has been accepted or declined. If your application is declined you will be advised on how to challenge the decision, if you wish to do so.
If your application is accepted, your name or organisation’s name and address must be recorded in a register of members. You will receive a receipt for payment of your fees plus a copy of the Rules of Association and other relevant information.
Members’ Code of Conduct.
FIN ACT members agree to:
Act honestly, fairly, reasonably, in good faith and in a socially responsible manner
Treat others with respect and dignity
Value the diversity of our community
Recognise and avoid conflicts of interest
Comply with the letter and spirit of the law and the ACT Human Rights Act (2004)
FIN ACT members agree not to:
Take improper advantage of their position or mislead others
Make improper use of information they have obtained
Disclose confidential information
Otherwise behave in a way that will reflect badly on FIN ACT
